If an open-cast mining becomes a solar lake
A “solar lake” arises from a flooded open- cast mining. Perebo enters new ground and is engaged with the development of a gigantic, floating solar platform. A former open-cast mining in central germany is the arena and shall be transformed in a “solar lake”. The planned floating solar platform gets as big as 12 football fields. The amount of current which can be pruduced is also gigantic: 6.5 million kilowatt hours per annum can supply 6000 people with current. The floating platform shall deliver energy at the beginning of the year 2011. With this electricity generation 5000 tons of CO2 per annum can be saved opposite a conventional electricity generation. The floating solar platform is also in the comparison with the current extraction made of biomass in the advantage. For comparison only: To produce the same amount of current you should add on an area of 100 hectare of maize for biomass.
